What to Expect on Carpet Cleaning Day, From Prep to the Hour After

If your last carpet cleaning left you with a soggy floor and a bill bigger than the quote, it's fair to wonder how a visit is supposed to go. Ours goes like this, step by step, from the evening before to the moment the dog trots back into the living room. Most of it is what you should expect from any good company, so it's worth knowing whoever you hire.

The short version
  • Prep is small: clear the small things off the floor and leave the furniture to the technician.
  • The visit opens with a walk through your rooms and a written price you approve before anything is cleaned.
  • The clean itself is low-moisture: cleaning pads carry the soil away, and nothing sticky stays behind.
  • A second walk-through at the end lets you check every room while the technician is still there.
  • The carpet is dry in about an hour, and if anything bothers you later, our guarantee brings us back.

When you book

A smooth day starts with a good booking. Choose a time on our online calendar, or call or text us; our phones are answered around the clock, and cleaning appointments run Monday through Saturday. The office confirms the details with you ahead of the day.

The more we know up front, the better the visit fits your home. Tell us which rooms you want done and whether there are stairs, along with any area rugs, sofas or chairs, and any pet accident spots. If you live in a condo or apartment building with rules for contractors, our high-rise guide covers what to ask your building first.

A little prep the evening before

You don't need to move furniture. A short pass through each room the evening before is enough.

Pick up the small stuff

Toys, shoes, laundry baskets, cords and anything else living on the floor. Leave the chairs and tables where they are.

Put fragile things away

Lamps on low tables, frames leaning on a wall, a vase on the floor, plants in delicate pots: anything you'd hate to see bumped.

Make a spot list

Note what caused each stain if you know, and where the pet accidents were. It shapes how each one is treated.

Plan for the pets

Pick a room or a crate for them during the clean. They're welcome back as soon as the floor has dried.

When the technician arrives

Whoever rings your bell works for LocalPro: trained by us, insured, and never a subcontractor. They carry portable equipment in with them, so no hoses run into the house from outside, and a parking space close to your door makes unloading quicker if you can keep one free.

First, a walk through every room

Nothing gets cleaned until the two of you have walked the house together. The technician looks at the paths your family actually uses, the spots on your list and any area that needs special care, and gives you a straight answer on each spot: likely to come out, or likely to lighten but stay visible. Hearing that before the work starts is worth more than any promise made over the phone.

Then the price goes down in writing. You approve it before the cleaning begins, and the invoice carries the identical figure. If the hallway or the sofa starts looking like a good idea partway through, the technician writes the revised total down for your OK before touching either one.

The clean itself

Our method is low-moisture. A carefully judged amount of cleaning solution goes into the carpet to loosen the soil gripping the lower part of the pile, and the machine's cleaning pads then pull that soil out and hold onto it. Each pad is retired once it's loaded with dirt and a clean one takes its place, as often as the room demands, so grime from one spot never travels to the next.

Furniture is handled sensibly. Lighter pieces such as dining chairs, side tables and ottomans are lifted aside so the carpet beneath them gets cleaned, then go back in place. Beds, dressers and entertainment centers never budge; the technician simply works the carpet around them.

  • Area rugs are cleaned where they lie, without ever leaving your home.
  • Sofas and chairs are matched to their cleaning code before the technician starts on them.
  • Pet accidents get the protein and enzyme treatment, and our 100% pet odor removal guarantee stands behind it.
  • Stairs are deep cleaned professionally, step after step.

Everything we use is non-toxic and eco-friendly. You're welcome to stay home and go about your day in a room we've finished or haven't reached yet.

A second walk-through before anything is packed

Once the final room is done, the two of you tour the house a second time. Look at the lanes and the spots from your list in good light, from where you normally stand or sit. If a spot or a stretch of carpet isn't where you want it, say so, and it gets another pass right then, with the equipment still inside.

It's also the moment to ask whatever you've been wondering about, from keeping a rug looking good to how long the clean should last. The job only counts as done when you're satisfied with it.

The first hours after

Because so little moisture goes into the carpet, it's dry in about an hour. A few habits help in that first stretch.

  • Walk on it in socks or bare feet until it's dry, and keep outdoor shoes off it.
  • Wait for it to dry before sliding a heavy piece across it.
  • Let the kids and pets back in once it's dry; everything we used is non-toxic.
  • Call us if a spot reappears in the days that follow.

Over the next few weeks you'll notice the other half of the difference. A soapy clean leaves residue that holds onto new dirt, which is why some carpets turn gray again soon after a cleaning. Nothing sticky stays in yours, so it stays clean about three times longer.

If something shows up later

Now and then, a spill from long ago works upward again while the carpet dries. That's called wicking, and a spot that wicks back gets another visit from us at no charge. Beyond that, our guarantee is simple: you love the clean, or it costs you nothing.

Carpet cleaning day questions

I work from home. Can I keep working while the technician cleans?

Yes. Set yourself up in a room we've already finished or one that isn't on the list, and the technician works around you. We'll borrow you twice, briefly: for the opening tour, when the written price gets your OK, and for the closing look at the finished rooms. Nothing we use is toxic, so there's no reason to clear out of the house.

We have family arriving this weekend. Is the day before too close to schedule a cleaning?

Not at all. The carpet is dry in about an hour, so a morning visit leaves the rest of the day for putting rooms back together. Because no soapy residue stays in the fibers, the carpet doesn't start soaking up dirt again the moment the guests walk in. Grab a slot early, since we only clean Monday through Saturday; once you've chosen one, the office will be in touch to confirm it.

Do I need to run fans or open windows after the technician leaves?

No. The carpet is only lightly dampened, so it dries in about an hour without any help from you. A ceiling fan won't hurt if you'd like air moving, but it isn't needed. Until the floor is fully dry, socks are kinder to it than outdoor shoes, and it's best to wait before dragging anything heavy back across it.

There's a piano and a heavy china cabinet in our living room. Do they have to be moved first?

No. Anything that heavy stays put, and the technician cleans the carpet around its feet and edges, the same way we handle beds, dressers and entertainment centers. Lighter things like chairs, end tables and ottomans get picked up, cleaned beneath and returned to their spots. If anything fragile sits on display nearby, put it away before we arrive.

What should I mention when I book, so the day goes smoothly?

Which rooms, whether there's a staircase, and any rugs, upholstery or pet accident spots, so the office books enough time for all of it. Mention access too: a gate code, a building that needs the service elevator reserved, or where the technician should park. Booking online works, and so does a call or text to 678-270-1555; either way the office confirms everything with you.

Satisfaction guaranteed on every visit.
