More about antibacterial sanitizer

When clean isn't enough

For the days you want the floor truly clean

Some messes call for more than a cleaning. After a stomach bug, after a toilet overflow once the water is up, or before a newborn spends the day on the floor, you want to know the carpet is sanitized, not just cleaned.

Think of it as the sanitizing step your kitchen counters get, made for carpet, area rugs and upholstered furniture. Your technician deep cleans first, lifting the soil out of the fibers, then applies the antibacterial sanitizer to the rooms and pieces you choose.

It's non-toxic and leaves no residue behind, so once it's dry the floor is ready for crawling babies, bare feet and the dog. It can be added to any cleaning visit and is priced by the room.

Pricing

What the sanitizer adds to a visit

The sanitizer is priced per room on top of the cleaning, typically $20 to $30 a room, and the smallest visit with the sanitizer on it is $119. Before the technician gets started, you'll have that total on paper and the final say on it.

How it fits the visit

One visit for the clean and the sanitizer

The sanitizer rides along with a regular LocalPro cleaning, so your carpet still gets the full low-moisture clean. A small, controlled amount of solution loosens the grime clinging low in the pile, and absorbent cleaning pads lift it away, with a fresh pad going down whenever the old one has had enough.

The antibacterial sanitizer goes on the rooms and pieces you picked out. Rugs are treated where they lie, on your own floor, and the sofa and chairs are cleaned with care before they're sanitized.

With so little moisture in the carpet, it's dry in about an hour, and after that the room is open to everyone again, four-legged members included. Nothing sticky stays behind for fresh dirt to cling to, either.

Honest expectations

When the sanitizer is the right call, and when it isn't

The technician will tell you plainly which treatment fits, before you approve a price.

A good fit for

  • The rooms a stomach bug went through
  • Carpet a toilet overflow reached, once the water is up
  • Floors where a baby crawls or a toddler plays
  • A stale smell that lingers in the carpet or a sofa

Not the fix for

  • Urine that has soaked in, which needs our pet odor treatment
  • Stains you can see, which the cleaning itself handles
  • A smell that starts somewhere other than the floor or the furniture

If you're not sure which you have, describe the smell when the technician arrives; sorting that out is part of the walk-through.

Getting ready

Before the technician arrives

List the rooms

Note the rooms, rugs and furniture you want sanitized, so nothing gets missed.

Mention any pets

If an animal could be the cause, say so. Urine calls for the pet treatment.

Clear the floor

Get small items off the carpet. The lighter furniture is the technician's job.

Keep it clear for an hour

Kids and pets can come back once the treated areas are dry.

To add the sanitizer, mention it while you schedule online through our booking page, or call 678-270-1555 and the office will put it on your visit.

Antibacterial sanitizer questions

Should we sanitize the carpet after a stomach bug?

It's a good idea once everyone is back on their feet. The technician deep cleans the rooms first, then applies the antibacterial sanitizer to the carpet, the rugs and any upholstered pieces you point out, so the house feels clean again. It's non-toxic, and the treated rooms are ready to use again in about an hour.

Is it safe with a newborn or a crawling baby in the house?

Yes, once it has dried. The sanitizer is non-toxic and leaves no residue in the fibers, so babies, toddlers and pets can go back to the floor the moment it dries, in about an hour. Until then, have the little ones and the dog wait in another room so the treated areas can finish drying.

Can the sanitizer go on a sofa or an area rug?

Yes. Beyond the carpet itself, it can go on area rugs and on upholstered furniture. Rugs are treated in your home, on your own floor, and upholstered pieces are handled with the same care as the rest of your furniture. On the first walk-through, point out every piece you want sanitized.

Will the sanitizer get rid of dog urine smell?

Not by itself. Urine sinks down into the carpet, and the sanitizer isn't made to break it down there. That job belongs to our pet treatment, a protein and enzyme treatment that goes after the urine itself, backed by our 100% pet odor removal guarantee. Both can go on the same visit if you have a lingering stale smell and a pet problem.

Can you sanitize the carpet after a toilet overflow?

Yes, once the water itself has been cleaned up. The carpet the overflow reached gets our deep clean first and then the antibacterial sanitizer, and the rest of the hallway can be done on the same visit. If a lot of water soaked in, describe it when you book and the technician will tell you honestly what cleaning can do.

How much does the sanitizer add to a cleaning?

It typically adds $20 to $30 a room, and the smallest visit with the sanitizer on it is $119. The technician walks the rooms with you and puts the total on paper for your OK, and that figure is exactly what you're charged. Our pricing page lists the cleaning rates for carpet, rugs and upholstery.

Can I add the sanitizer to a move-out cleaning?

Yes. It can be added to any cleaning visit, a move-out included, in whichever rooms you choose. Empty rooms make every bit of carpet easy to reach, and the itemized invoice lists the sanitizer next to each room we cleaned. Mention it when you book so it's part of the plan from the start.

The short answer

LocalPro's antibacterial sanitizer gives carpet, area rugs and upholstery a sanitizing treatment after the deep clean: after a stomach bug, after a toilet overflow once the water is up, or before a baby starts crawling. It's added room by room, typically $20 to $30 a room, and visits that include it typically start at $119. It's non-toxic, leaves no residue and is safe for kids and pets once dry. For urine that has seeped into the carpet, our pet odor treatment is the right tool.
